The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure “Getting There Green” intranet was redesigned as an engagement portal to promote action by employees on climate change

Creative, innovative, compelling

CanNeu (Carbon Neutral):

  • Users can see how green their building is in several categories: energy usage, fleet, travel, recycling, and commuting. Users can enter details about their green practices and change how “green” their home building appears in real-time.
  • Green Teams collaboration tool suite: Web 2.0 collaboration tools to foster collaboration and friendly competition among Ministry green teams.
  • Online library for climate change books and videos including such Web 2.0 features as Subscribe to Email Notifications, Write your own Reviews, Rate a Book or Video, and many more.
  • Photo contests with gallery and voting, custom carbon calculator, and many other custom interactive components.
  • A range of activities for children called Motley’s Kids Zone, featuring Motley the Toad and containing puzzles, mazes and games designed to foster environmental awareness among the young.
  • Integrated online or social media campaigns and video

    • Green Teams 2.0 tools offer collaboration tools for Green Team members across the province.
    • Video production of content including interviews with innovators in the ministry.

    • Photo contest for employees included gallery and online voting.

    Integrated online or social media campaigns and video

    Online Library App for climate action books and videos enabled Ministry employees to borrow books and DVDs, place holds, receive email notifications, write reviews, rate and comment on climate action related books and DVDs.
